It’s been barely a month since Facebook acquired WhatsApp for a jaw-dropping $19 billion, but would Blackberry’s Messenger be as high-valued? Well, Blackberry’s CEO John Chen certainly thinks so.
In an interview with CNBC, Chen said that were he to be offered a sum $19 billion for BBM; he would ask the company’s shareholders to accept the offer. But he maintains that there are currently different plans in place for the messaging app.
Blackberry has taken a few steps in this said direction by announcing BBM eSuite, and BBM for Windows and Nokia X platforms. In reality, the messaging app has a lot of ground to cover, considering it only has 85 million active users, while WhatsApp has a little over 450 million.
