Nokia Bandit to be a 6-inch 1080p display phablet launching later this year

Nokia might have recently launched the Lumia 1020 with its 41-megapixel camera and might be planning to launch a tablet running on Windows RT next month, but it isn’t done for the year just yet. The Verge is reporting that Nokia is currently working on a 6-inch phablet codenamed Bandit that will also sport a 1080p full HD display. This is not the first time we are hearing about the Nokia’s phablet plans to take on Samsung’s Galaxy Note and we recently also saw an alleged photo of its display.

According to the report, the Bandit would be the first of many Windows Phone devices with a 1080p full HD display and Microsoft is ensuring that a compatible version of Windows Phone is available that would support the higher resolution display and would probably add an extra row of live tiles on the home screen. This could also be the first Windows Phone device to run on a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon processor. It is also claimed to sport a 20-megapixel camera and might have a small hump in the rear like the one found on the Lumia 925.

We can independently confirm that such a phablet is indeed in the works and Nokia is looking at a late-October or November timeframe for the launch. There is a possibility that the device would be launched at an event that might bring back Nokia’s annual Nokia World event but that isn’t confirmed at the moment. Nokia would be looking at making the device available around the holiday season in key markets in Europe.
